Los líderes de las búsquedas en internet presentaron al Departamento de Justicia de los EEUU una versión revisada de su asociación publicitaria, a la espera de obtener la aprobación del regulador antimonopolio.

El nuevo plan reduce el acuerdo a dos años, desde los 10 años contemplados en un principio, y limita los ingresos que Yahoo! puede recibir al 25% de sus ingresos por búsquedas.

Otra modificación fue que los anunciantes de Google pueden pedir no aparecer en las búsquedas hechas a través de Yahoo!

"Hemos estado trabajando con el Departamento de Justicia respecto a nuestro acuerdo con Google y esas discusiones siguen en curso", dijo Tracy Schmaler, portavoz de Yahoo!, en un comunicado enviado por correo electrónico.

Google emitió un comunicado similar. "No discutiremos los detalles del proceso", precisó Adam Kovacevich en un correo electrónico.

El trato, anunciado en junio, no cuenta con la aprobación de muchos de los anunciantes porque Google y Yahoo! dominan el mercado de las búsquedas en internet de los EEUU.

La participación de mercado de Google se amplió al 63% en agosto, mientras que la de Yahoo! cayó al 19,6% y la de Microsoft al 8,3%, de acuerdo a comScore.
